Your Hosts
- Laura Keenan is co-publisher and editor at Night Parrot Press. Her career as an editor spans twenty years, working for publishers including the Perseus Books Group (USA) and UWA Publishing. Laura has judged the Writing WA annual Flash Fiction contest (2020–2023), sat on panels and moderated for the Ubud Writers Festival and Perth Festival Writers Weekend, and presented at the Curtin University Year 12 English Conference (2023–2024). She runs flash fiction writing workshops in schools, libraries and community centres, encouraging others to obsess over small, intense stories.
- Mabel Gibson is a twenty-four-year-old Yamatji woman from Albany (Kinjarling). Mabel is published in maar bidi: Next Generation Black Writing (Magabala Books), all three Night Parrot Press flash fiction anthologies, and has her debut collection of micro memoir CryBaby forthcoming in February 2025. Mabel has sat on panels at various writers festivals, has taught creative writing workshops in schools, and hopes to one day become a publisher and provide opportunities for other First Nations writers
